53 - means the car is a 4-SPEED and got MANUAL BRAKES

20 - means the car is a 4-SPEED MANUAL BRAKES car and gets the CLUTCH PEDAL specified for that combination

Would you be willing to scan your Broad cast sheet and post it here? Does your Charger have a Fender Tag?

The codes are sometimes the last 2 digits of the part number you would find in the parts manual (also on main site) or are the last 2 digits of the assembly part number (not in parts manual).

The codes tell the assembly line workers what part or assembly (a pre-built assembly of parts/components) to put on the car at their specific station. So whoever the guy was at the station that looked after clutch pedals really doesn't need to worry about what model etc it is...he sees 20 on the sheet so he plucks a "20" pedal out of the bin and slaps it on.

Pretty much!

The important stuff like what engine, trans, radiator, Radio, colors ect is nice to know but lots of the assembly codes arenít of any value to most people.
